UPDATE!

I am very excited to share my progress this week with you all! After a lot of waiting, the Robot Kits have finally arrived. I began the assembly process yesterday morning and before I knew it, I had a fully functioning self-balancing robot roaming around my desk! The assembly process was very straight forward, and the instructions were very clear. However, in true engineer fashion, I tried to assemble it without looking at the instructions (with no mistakes I must add).

I began by unboxing all of the components and fixing the motor to the L shaped bracket, before attaching the bracket to the first base plate. I then added the wheels to either side and the clear bracket at the front.

I then began to secure the Arduino board and its two attachments, the ultrasonic sensor and the GY-521 Module. Once the Arduino board was added, next was the frame and battery and finally the clear top, a particularly satisfying way to finish off by peeling off the plastic layer.

The final assembly is shown on the left. I really enjoyed the activity and I cant wait to write and upload the code to allow the robot to navigate the obstacle course in a few weeks.

More updates on the programming of the robot will be posted later this week.

Stay tuned!
